Cancer, Discovery Shop Volunteers!
Discovery Shop volunteers have always been indispensable to our 55-year upscale resale business. Together across our West Coast Discovery Shop locations, we raised $24 million last year in support of critical American Cancer Society-funded research, our 24/7/365 live helpline and online chat, patient programs and services, and much more. This year, COVID-19 will reduce the ability of ACS to fund cancer research by 50% in 2020, our lowest investment this century, and has separated many of our senior, long-term volunteers from us and from doing what they love.
Help us recover our greatest advantage in the fight against cancer and sign up as a Discovery Shop volunteer! We need you – high school and college-age youth, parents, grandparents, friends, colleagues, employees, business leaders. Contribute to our unique quality resale experience with your time and talents for a minimum of 4 hours a week and receive 20% off purchases. Volunteer opportunities include customer service;
cashiering; meeting with donors and processing merchandise donations; in-shop
and window merchandising; online research and authentication of donations from
collectibles to jewelry to artwork; and social media promotion, just to name a
