#ItTakesAllOfUs to fight cancer
The NFL and ACS are teaming up for the 12th season of the Crucial Catch program partnership under the campaign “It Takes All of Us,” because one person’s fight is never one person’s fight.
Crucial Catch helps more people catch cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. Crucial Catch also addresses the unequal burden of cancer in underserved communities through the ACS CHANGE grant program currently being conducted in all 32 NFL team markets. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on screening. Since March 2020, Americans have been urged to delay routine cancer screenings, resulting in a screening rate drop between 86% and 94% for some cancers. In 2020, CHANGE grants will be funded to aid in the restart of cancer screenings in communities most in need.
This October, the NFL and ACS are teaming up to attack cancer in several ways:
- Crucial Catch games: throughout the month of October, NFL games will feature multicolored Crucial Catch branding on-field and in-stadium to represent multiple cancers – including breast, colorectal, lung, cervical, prostate and childhood – to raise awareness for how cancer has impacted lives in communities. Much of the apparel worn at games by players and coaches, along with brand new Crucial Catch game items, will be auctioned off at the NFL Auction.
- NFL-produced PSA: Underscores the significance of screening and early detection, and the role we all play in encouraging friends and loved ones to get screened.
- The Defender: Through the Crucial Catch partnership, the NFL and ACS developed The Defender, a tool that provides personalized tips on how to reduce your risk of cancer. This tool creates a personalized user experience, including tips on how to have a conversation with your healthcare provider about getting screened.
- Crucial Catch apparel: the NFL partners with Nike and New Era to produce a line of multicolored team apparel for sale on its NFLShop.com. site, with proceeds benefiting the Crucial Catch partnership and the CHANGE Grant initiative.
- Youth Crucial Catch TikTok Challenge: Youth will post videos sharing their “Crucial Catch moment” as their favorite way to celebrate a big play or a moment in their life – such as iconic moves, latest dance, high fives – to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer.
