GrownNation is back, with Cleveland Indians Francisco Lindor serving as celebrity ambassador

This November, GrowNation – our peer-to-peer fundraising platform that encourages supporters to grow out their hair in support of our mission – is back.

Now through the end of the month, we are challenging supporters to make a commitment to grow their hair, then invite family, friends, and coworkers to make a donation in support of their efforts.

New this year is the addition of Major League Baseball All-Star and Gold Glove-winning shortstop Francisco Lindor as celebrity ambassador for the campaign. Known as “Mr. Smile” to fans, Lindor will be featured on ACS’ Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts throughout the month. He’ll also encourage his more than 770,000 Instagram followers to join him in growing out their mustaches, beards, or even leg hair, and then donate to his “Team Lindor” GrowNation fundraising page. The fight against cancer is personal to him; several people close to him have been affected by the disease.

Participants can set up their own fundraising page at charity.gofundme.com/grownation. The hairier the merrier, so individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome to join the effort to grow for good. Several resources are available for staff and volunteers who wish to promote this opportunity to their networks:
