Five Ideas to Encourage Registration & Participation

A number of Relay For Life events will be happening in the upcoming weeks and months. As a Relay For Life leader, you play an important role to be sure all participants get registered. We want to be sure you have the tips and tools you need to get teams and participants registered for the event.

Here are some good tips to keep in mind!
Five Ideas to Encourage Registration & Participation

• Visit past and prospective team captains and talk with them about how you can help get them and their team registered. Visit with currently registered team captains, talk with them about participant registration and ask how you can help get their team members registered.

• Have you personally reached out to previous year participants? Use the online email system to ensure all participants from previous years have been asked to sign up again for this year.

• Offer fun incentives to participants and teams for registration. For example, promote that all team captains with all their team members registered by a certain date will be the first ones to get to choose their campsites.

• Be sure to use all the resources available to you that make registration easy. Host an electronic registration/fundraising rally at a location with multiple computers that have internet access so participants can register, customize their fundraising page and send emails to friends and family. Also, do not forget about the new mobile version of RelayForLife.org where anyone with a smartphone can easily register for an event. There’s also an app for registered participants where they can manage their personal fundraising page and ask through email or social channels for their contacts to support their fundraising. Get more info on the apps and mobile version of RelayForLife.org.

• Give your participants a registration date. It sounds simple, but sometimes, people just need to have a date to complete an action by on their calendar. Instead of just thinking that they will get to it later, they will have a dedicated time to get involved!

Let's get more teams and participants committed and registered for the event!
