Social Distancing FUNdraising Ideas

Are you looking for some Social Distancing FUNdraising Ideas? Well you are in luck, here is a quick list for your Western Regional Relay Volunteers!

Social Media Yard Sale

Have you spent your time at home cleaning out your closets and playrooms? Post pictures of your items on social media (Facebook, Next Door, Craigslist, etc.) with a link to your participant page for donations!  Purchases can be delivered and/or available via your porch following social distancing protocols.

Baked Goods

Make up a flyer and drop it off around the neighborhood and/or post on social media and offer up cookies, cupcakes, or pies… whatever you love to bake. Ask for pre-sale orders, then drop off on doorsteps or have them available at specified times for front yard pick up following social distancing protocols. (Please make sure to follow local food service codes.)

Flush Cancer

Get a toilet and paint it purple. Then place it on the front lawn of a friend, co-worker, or family member. To get the toilet removed, the people who have the toilet in their yard must donate. For an extra donation, they can request who’s yard the toilet will be placed on next. This is a fun “non-face-to-face” way to raise money for Relay! This also works with placing a flock of Pink Flamingos on peoples’ front yards (which is also lighter weight).

Virtual Mixology Event

Demonstrate making a variety of cocktails. Send out the ingredient list ahead of time and ask people to register in the form of a donation. Once someone donates, the host sends out the Zoom link. During the call, the host teaches how to make certain cocktails and shares the receipts. (This can also easily be adjusted to make “virgin” drinks for those under the legal drinking age in your area.)

Virtual Peloton Bike Ride

Send out a social media post announcing a specific distance you plan to ride on a designated day. Post progress throughout the day on Instagram, Facebook Live, etc. One Relayer posted all day on Instagram, using her humor and her great riding skills and raised $3,000.

Virtual Bingo

Host a virtual bingo. One Relayer raised over $1,600 during one Bing Night!

Online & Company Silent Auction

Post pictures of your items on social media with a link to your participant page for donations!  Purchases can be delivered, mailed, and/or available via your porch following social distancing protocols. Also ask your company or local companies to set up an internal silent auction for the employees.

Engage Local Businesses on Social Media

Work with your local businesses to see how you can support each other online. A local insurance agent donated $5 for every LIKE on her Facebook page on a specific day, so the Relay encouraged all their followers to LIKE the insurance agent’s page on that day.

Virtual Zoom Fundraiser Class

VinoPaint, YayMaker, YogaSix, Barry’s and many other local and national businesses are offering Painting classes, Zumba classes, Yoga classes, and more. Participants can pre-register and any supplies needed can be purchased and picked up or mailed (depending on the organization you are working with). Some will require a purchase to participate and the company will donate a percentage back to your Relay fundraising while others will be a open donation for participation, work with your vendor to see what works best.

Mask-erade Ball

With everyone having to wear masks these days, you could create a fundraiser with this in several ways. Host it as a Zoom event with music and games. Donation to participate, or donate to enter the best mask contest, or donation to vote.

Virtual Tea Party

Mail out a teabag and a note card with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Ask people to enjoy a cup of tea and consider a donation to Relay. You can even host an actual Tea Party by include the Zoom information in the mailing and talk about why you Relay during the event.

Face Mask Sales

Fabric re-usable face masks help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and are recommended or required in many communities. Make home-made face masks and sell them for donations to Relay. Masks can be shipped affordable or available for delivered or porch pick-up following social distancing protocols.

Virtual Sales Parties

Pampered Chef, Lularoe, Tupperware, Avon, Stella & Dot, etc. The host donates a percentage of total sales.

Birthday Party Kits

Create a kit with balloons, yard decorations, etc. Promote the kits on-line and request delivery dates. Then deliver kits to peoples’ front porches, or for a step further and a larger donation over night set-up the signs in the yard and have a gift basket for the birthday person on the doorstep so they wake up to a birthday surprise.

Luminaria Garden & Luminaria Parade

Create a Luminaria Garden or light luminaria down a neighborhood street for a Luminaria Parade. People can purchase a luminaria bag to be displayed at the event (following social distancing protocols for both pick-up and drop-ff). Admission can be charged for participation or a general donation asked for at the end of the event. The garden can have outdoor places for people to sit, reflect, and enjoy light refreshments (reservations are recommended to ensure social distancing guidelines are meet).
