Each year in the US, almost 35,000
men and women are diagnosed with a cancer caused by HPV. If all 9 to
12-year-old boys and girls were vaccinated, an estimated 90% of HPV cancers
could be prevented, amounting to more than 32,000 fewer cancers per year.
Vaccination could also help hundreds of thousands of women avoid having to
undergo treatment for cervical pre-cancers each year. Studies continue to prove
that HPV vaccination is effective, decreasing the number of infections and HPV
pre-cancers in young people since it was introduced.
