As part of #GivingTuesdayNow, Buffalo Bills cornerback Levi Wallace teamed up with ACS CAN to raise funds for the public policy advocacy organization through a Gamers vs. Cancer virtual live stream event.
While playing the popular videogame “Fortnite” via an online stream with former teammates from the University of Alabama, Wallace praised the work of ACS CAN and shared that he lost an aunt to breast cancer when he was in high school.
In the first hour, $1,000 was raised, and Levi matched that with a personal donation of $1,000. By 5 p.m., $3,500 had been raised. By the end, he had raised more than $5,400. The names of everyone who donated $50 or more were put into a drawing for prizes donated by Levi. One will get a jersey, and the other a pair of cleats, both signed by Levi.
ACS CAN used #GivingTuesdayNow to educate people about its lifesaving work to fight back against cancer and ask the public to help ensure it can continue its mission into the future.
“We are so grateful Levi is using his platform as a professional athlete to share how cancer has touched his life while working to support the advocacy work of ACS CAN," said Lisa Lacasse, president of ACS CAN. "During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot allow cancer to gain ground. Cancer hasn’t stopped and neither can we.”
On Monday, South Jersey native pro hockey players, Eric Robinson of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Cleveland Monsters, Buddy Robinson and Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames, and Matt Gaudreau of the Reading Royals (ECHL) hosted a charity livestream game of Fortnite® on the streaming platform Twitch® to support the ACS mission as part of our Gamers vs Cancer initiative and Hockey Fights Cancer.
